The Town of Pulaski is seeking applications for the position of Firefighter.
Job Summary:
The Firefighter is responsible for providing protective and technical services in fire suppression in an effort to protect lives and property. Firefighting requires the ability to perform strong physical activity and is performed under emergency conditions with personal hazard. Minimum qualifications are:
- Preference given to non smokers.
- No Smoking in Town buildings or vehicles.
- Submit to a Firefighter oriented physical examination.
- Successful completion of a Firefighter oriented physical ability test.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Criminal background check.
- VDFP Firefighter level II.
- VDFP Hazardous Materials Operations.
- Valid Virginia driver license with acceptable driving record.
- EVOC Certification; Classes 1, 2 and 3.
- Knowledge of practices and techniques of fire suppression.
- Average mechanical aptitude.
- Basic computer skills.
- Respond to off duty alarms as needed.
The work schedule is a 24 hour 15 Minute rotational shift scheduled by The Fire Chief and/or Officer in Charge.
