A rigorous two year program for upper-class high school students focusing on Science, Mathematics and Technology, it is one of seven schools designated by the Governor of Virginia.
New River Community College
Began in 1959 as a vocational/technical school, officially named New River Community College in 1969, offering courses in a variety of technical areas including accounting, data processing and business management. NRCC is a two year state institution serving the citizens of the New River Valley. Enrollment is over 6,000 students with an experienced faculty of over 190. The College has innovative career studies and certificate programs that are specifically designed to meet the needs of local and state employers, in addition to programs geared towards students aiming towards transferring to a four year institution.
