Senior Center Hosts Valentine's Lunch

Valentine's Day Lunch Held for Seniors
Posted on 02/15/2019

For a lot of people, Valentine’s Day is a time to show your love to someone else important in your life, whether it be a significant other or your kids who know Valentine’s Day means lots of chocolate. But that’s only scratching the surface of the love shared among everyone on this special day.

Take the Pulaski Senior Center’s Valentine’s Day lunch for example. Held yesterday, the dinner was a great chance for the older generations to get together and share the love.

Along with some tasty food, a few lucky seniors also won a Valentine’s gift from a raffle that was held. They also enjoyed a healthy cooking demonstration by Laura Reasor from the Virginia Extension Service. She showed them how to make a delicious vegetable stir fry using fruit juice, and also handed out informational flyers detailing how to identify which cooking essentials are the healthiest options.

Officer Megan Jennings was also a part of the presentations, informing the seniors of phone scams that target older people in an attempt to extort money from them. Sharon Miller from Medi-Hospice also spoke, encouraging seniors to continue working towards their health goals no matter what they have available to meet those goals. Altogether, these presentations were wonderful, providing the seniors with valuable information and fun ways to keep their health in check. Americare Plus was also there, offering free blood pressure checks to anyone interested.

We’d like to thank all of these companies and individuals for taking part in the lunch; we couldn’t have done it without them! The seniors had a wonderful time, and we’re already looking forward to the next time we can get them all together for a lovely afternoon.
