Building Official

The Town of Pulaski is seeking an individual with at least 5 years’ experience as a licensed professional engineer, architect, building, fire or trade inspector or general contractor or related experience to serve as its next Building Official. 

Certification as a Building Official (ICC certified and recognized by the VDHCD) or ability to receive certification within one year of employment required. Valid Virginias driver’s license.  Salary $47,204 to $75,654.

Crew Leader - General Properties Department (Public Works)

The Town of Pulaski Department of Public Works is currently accepting applications for the position of Crew Leader in the General Properties department.  Primary duties include repair and maintenance of the town’s traffic lights and street signs.  Other duties include property maintenance of town facilities such as plumbing and electrical repairs, replacing bulbs/ballasts in the building, concrete work such as digging out curbing or sidewalk, forming, pouring and finishing concrete, curb and sidewalk maintenance, clearing town sidewalks during inclement weather.

Electrical and HVAC experience preferred.  Successful candidate must possess a valid Commercial Driver License (Class B) upon hire.  

Hours are 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday.  Excellent benefit package.

Equipment Operator

The Town of Pulaski Department of Public Works is seeking an Equipment Operator.  Must be experienced in the operation of dump trucks, backhoes, rubber tire loader, track hoe and other heavy equipment used by the Town of Pulaski.  

This position requires a valid driver's license upon hire.

Crew Leader - General Properties 

Crew Leader is responsible for overseeing the crew and the jobsite.
  Crew Leader must be able to perform laborer duties and operate equipment as well.  Crew Leader must be able to receive both oral and written instruction and complete tasks with minimal supervision.  Crew Leader in the General Properties Department is responsible for maintenance of town facilities.  This will include electrical, plumbing and HVAC repairs.  Carpentry and masonry projects as well.  Also responsible for the repair/replacement of street signs, traffic lights, forming/pouring concrete, cleaning town sidewalks and facilities during inclement weather.

This position requires a valid driver's license upon hire.

Laborers

Street laborers should be experienced in application of asphalt, gravel, mowing, weed-eating, tree trimming and removal, cutting brush.  Street laborer will also perform street maintenance duties such as repairing drainage issues, leaf collection and snow removal.  Street laborers also provide traffic control (barricade and road blockages) for special events during normal working hours and after hours.

Property Maintenance laborer should be experienced in electrical repairs, HVAC system repair/maintenance, concrete work, traffic signal and street sign maintenance.

Part-Time Sanitization Specialist

Sanitization Specialist will be responsible for detailing cleaning and sanitizing of fixtures including doors/knobs/handles, light switches, restroom facilities, stairwell railing, and providing back up assistance to the Custodian.  

This position requires a valid driver's license upon hire.

Police Officer

The Pulaski Police Department, an agency accredited by the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission, is seeking candidates to establish an eligibility list for anticipated vacancies during the next six months.  Officers are responsible for the enforcement of laws and ordinances pursuant to the Town, State and Federal Governments, as well as, providing assistance to the public.  Officers are subjected to hazardous and life threatening situations and must be able to work as a team member and maintain a good relationship with fellow employees. Officers are required to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications include graduation from high school, must be twenty-one years of age by the date of graduation from the basic academy and possess a valid Virginia’s driver’s license with a good driving record.  Must successfully complete applicant testing and an extensive background investigation and complete the training standards as required by the Law Enforcement Basic Academy.  The successful candidate must reside within forty-five minutes of the town limits.  Additional qualifications and disqualifiers for employment as a Law Enforcement Officer may be obtained with the application form.  Preference may be given to DCJS certified officers.
