Pulaski Vying for New HGTV 'Town Takeover' Show

Flash mobs are great; loud music and choreographed dance moves are always a good way to capture the attention of bystanders and get them excited about things happening in the area. Something about them seems to stick in your memory long after the dancing has passed and the music dies down.

Here in Pulaski, a rather memorable flash mob was held this past Saturday on West Main Street. Hundreds gathered to either participate or lend their support, while news crews and others stood by to record the event. While the flash mob was a great way to enhance Pulaski's community spirit, there's one big reason for the event taking place. HGTV is in the works to begin producing a new reality TV series titled ‘Home Town Takeover', in which they'll be selecting several towns from across America to receive a facelift on various properties throughout that town. For example, we're vying for a renovation to our Main Street, as well as to several neighborhoods where houses could use some sprucing up. If you've been through Pulaski lately, you know that our Town has an enormous amount of potential to shine; we just need to give some areas that special touch to really make them pop.

If HGTV chooses us for one of their towns, we plan on making the best use of their time here as we possibly can. There are undoubtedly dozens of other towns competing to be selected, so we just have to show HGTV how proud Pulaski is! If you happened to be at the flash mob on Saturday, you could feel the positive energy radiating from everyone who was involved. We had hundreds of people come out to show their support for our community, with members of the Fire Department, Police Department, members of the Pulaski County High School Band and Choir, and others joining in the fun. While the flash mob will definitely be one of the highlighting features of our submission to HGTV, we plan on including a few more things as well, including interviews with community members and footage from around our historic Town. We'll be sharing the finished product on our social media channels next week, so make sure you stay tuned to check it out!
